ITINERARY – 7 DAYS AT A GLANCE
DAY 1 – Start in Merano: Off-road & mountain hut feeling
The journey begins in Merano, where all participants meet, the vehicles are checked, and the guides give a short briefing. Afterwards, you'll set off into the surrounding mountains of South Tyrol, experiencing your first gravel tracks, easy off-road sections, and sweeping panoramas. The group arrives at an alpine pasture for a sundowner before spending the first evening relaxing in a cozy mountain hut.
DAY 2 – Crossing the Alps & Gold Rush in Piedmont
The route takes you from South Tyrol across impressive alpine off-road tracks towards Piedmont. In the afternoon, you'll reach a remote river area with a rich gold history. An experienced guide will show you the basics of gold panning – including all the necessary equipment.
In the evening, a communal outdoor dinner by the river and an overnight stay under the open sky.
DAY 3 – Indulgence in Piedmont: Vineyards & Country House
The day begins with a relaxing drive through the rolling hills of the Barolo region. Small off-road tracks wind through chestnut groves and between vineyards. At a family-run winery, you'll discover the region through its wines: a cellar tour, tasting, and a traditional Piedmontese dinner. Overnight accommodation is in a stylish country house right next to the winery.
DAY 4 – Onward journey to Tuscany: Val d'Orcia
The route continues south past Bologna into the heart of Tuscany. After a long panoramic tour, you'll reach the Val d'Orcia – one of Italy's most iconic landscapes. Cypress-lined avenues, rolling hills, and expansive fields accompany you along small country lanes and easy off-road tracks. The evening concludes at a rustic agriturismo, nestled among olive groves and vineyards.
DAY 5 – Hot Springs & Outdoors under the Stars
On the fifth day, you'll head to the hot springs of Saturnia. The route there leads along small gravel roads and hidden tracks – perfect for an off-road experience without the rough terrain. In Saturnia, there will be time to bathe in the steaming natural pools before continuing to the outdoor camp in the Maremma. There, you'll experience one of the most intense moments in nature on the trip: sunset, a campfire, and a quiet night under the stars.
DAY 6 – Montaione: Truffle hunting & pasta cooking
From Saturnia, the journey heads north into the woods surrounding Montaione. A local truffle hunter and his dog will guide you through the terrain – an authentic experience that immerses you in Tuscan culture. You'll then work together in a small kitchen to prepare homemade pasta using the truffles you've found. Overnight accommodation is again in a comfortable Tuscan country house.
DAY 7 – Finale in Naples: Coast & world's best pizza
The final leg takes you on a long, scenic drive towards southern Italy. Coastal roads, Mediterranean landscapes, and the approach to Mount Vesuvius create a fitting finale. Upon arrival in Naples, the tour concludes with a visit to the legendary Pizzeria Brandi, the birthplace of Pizza Margherita – a perfect blend of culinary delights, culture, and urban lifestyle. After dinner, the trip officially ends.
